Never kept records before? That’s fine.
Most people haven’t. BuildMyEvidence is three things, and you can start with one. Your evidence is probably already on your phone and in your inbox — this brings it into one place, dates it, and turns it into one document.

Bring it in
Photos, emails, texts. Leave the originals where they are.
It gets dated
When it happened, and when you added it. Side by side.
One document
Everything in order, numbered, ready to hand over.
A few minutes at a time is plenty. It gets quicker every time.
1 · Pick your way
Two ways to keep your evidence safe
Most people
Keep it simple
Leave everything where it already is — camera roll, inbox, messages. Add each thing to your case as you go. No set-up.
Don’t delete the originals.
Not the photos, emails or texts — until your case is over. Don’t clear your phone to free up space.
Lots of paperwork, or a computer
Keep it all in one place
Make one folder for the case and save letters, PDFs and statements into it, exactly as they came. About ten minutes, once. Back it up weekly.

Full folder set-up →You can switch any time. Lots of people start simple and make a folder once the letters start arriving.

Say whether you’re raising it or answering it, give the case a name, and add who’s involved. That’s page one of your case file.
Put BME on your home screen
iPhone: open the site in Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. Android: open it in Chrome → ⋮ → Install app. It then opens like any other app.
Pin BME to your computer
In Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right of the address bar. BME then opens in its own window.
Pin BME to your computer
In Chrome, click the install icon in the address bar. In Safari, choose File → Add to Dock.
Add your first thing
A photo and two lines is enough. Then say when it happened — Now, Last night, Yesterday, or pick a day.
3 · Adding things
Bring it all in — every way in
Press + Add item in your case, or drop a file anywhere on the page. Whatever it is and wherever it is, there’s a way in.
From your phone
- PhotosStraight from your camera roll.
- Texts and messagesPaste the message, or screenshot the thread.
- VideosStay on your phone. BME takes the date and the stills you pick.
- Your voiceSay what happened. Kept as your own voice note.
From your inbox and files
- EmailsForward to your case’s own address. Dated the day they were sent.
- Letters and PDFsAdd the file, or just list it — what, when, who has it — and it stays with you.
- Drag and dropOn a computer, drag any file onto your case page.
What you write down
- What happenedIn your own words — a call, a visit, last night’s noise.
- Key documentsThe lease, contract or rules the case rests on.
- AmountsCharged, paid or paid back — with the bill behind it.
Finding a photo or video’s date →
Then one question: whose is it?
- Their side
- What you recorded
- Your side
That decides which column it sits in on your Register.
Two dates on every entry
Mar 14when it happened
Apr 2when you added it
Adding something late is fine. Both dates show, so anyone reading can trust the order.
4 · Your case screen
What each part of your case does
Across the top of your case is a row of views. They all show the same record, just looked at a different way. Nothing is filed twice.
- Register
- Everything, in the order it happened. Each item keeps its number for good.
- Correspondence
- Every message both ways — emails, letters and texts — including the ones never answered.
- The money
- Every amount in the dispute, lined up. See section 5.
- Promises
- What each side said they’d do, and whether anything was recorded after.
- Summary
- What the record shows, counted for you. It never says who’s right.
- Plates & recordings
- Your photos and voice notes, numbered — exactly as they’ll print.
- Open items
- What’s still missing — a date, a reply, a reference number.
- Case file
- The finished document. Read it free any time; it updates as you add.

5 · When it’s about money
Recording the money in a dispute
A deposit not returned, a bill you say is wrong, a refund that never came, an invoice left unpaid, a claim paid short. Record every amount the argument is about, with the paper it comes from.
Each amount needs five things
- The date on the bill, statement or receipt.
- The amount exactly as written, cents included.
- Which way it went — they’re asking you to pay, you’re asking them to pay, you paid them, or they paid you.
- What it’s for — one plain line.
- Where it’s shown — a photo of the bill, or listed if it’s a PDF you keep.
The money view lines them up
Every amount in date order, with its item number, so anyone can follow what was asked for, what was paid, and what’s not paid yet on each side.
The same table prints in your case file.
Good habits: enter their figure exactly as they state it, even if you think it’s wrong · one amount per entry · keep the paper each figure comes from.
BME lines up the amounts. It doesn’t say who’s right or what you’re owed.
6 · The Tools page
Doing something with your record
Tools is where your record turns into something you can use. You don’t need any of it until you’re ready.
Your case file
Build the case file, or use Show on screen at a meeting — your notes stay hidden while it’s showing.
Letters and emails
Letters with your names, dates and items filled in from your record. What you’re asking for is always yours to write. Mark it as sent and it goes back into your Register.
Use your own AI
Copy your record to use with an AI you already have. BME doesn’t run any AI itself.
Take everything outAlways free
Everything you’ve put in, taken out, any time. Worth doing once a month as a backup.
Bring things in
Your case’s email address, and pasting in a letter you wrote somewhere else so it’s on the record with its date.
7 · What you get at the end
One document, ready to hand over
Who’s involved · everything in date order, numbered · your photos as numbered plates · the documents you hold, listed · the money · what the record shows. For a lawyer, an insurer, a landlord, the city — whoever needs to see it.
PDF has a navy cover for the screen and email. Print version has a white cover made for paper.
$59 once, for this case

Questions
Common questions
- Is it free?
- Building and reading your case is free, with every tool. You pay $59 once per case only when you download the finished case file.
- Can I use it on my phone?
- Yes. Put it on your home screen and it opens like an app. Photos, texts and emails all go in straight from your phone.
- Do you keep my files?
- We keep the photos, screenshots and files you add, so they can go into your case file. Anything you’d rather not upload — a medical letter, say — you can just list instead: what it is, its date and who has it. Videos stay on your phone; BME keeps the date, the file’s details and fingerprint, and the stills you pick.
- What if I’m the one being complained about?
- Choose “answering it” when you start your case. Same record, same tools.
- Who sees my case?
- Only you, unless you hand over the case file or show it on screen yourself. Your notes are never printed or shared.
