When they say you didn't do it.

The work wasn't finished. The rent wasn't paid. You didn't turn up. The form never arrived. A claim that something didn't happen is answered by showing, with dates, that it did — or by saying plainly that you can't.

What usually answers it

  • Work: photos taken as the work was done, sign-offs, messages confirming it was finished
  • Payments: bank statements, receipts, payment confirmations
  • Visits and handovers: messages arranging them, your calendar, receipts from where you were
  • Things sent: the sent email, the mailing receipt, the confirmation number

What to do

List each thing they say didn't happen. Next to each, add the dated items that show it did. Your record shows which items were made at the time, and which were added later.

The letter for this

“Answer ‘you didn’t do it’” lists the dated items for each point. What you conclude from them is yours to write.
