When they ask you for documents.

An insurer wants receipts. An employer wants your notes. An agency wants a form. Sending what's asked for is straightforward. Being able to show later exactly what you sent, and when, is the part people forget.

Step by step

  1. Write down what was asked for, and when, in their words.
  2. Send what was asked. If something doesn't exist, or you don't have it, say so plainly.
  3. List what you're sending in the message itself, item by item.
  4. Keep a copy of exactly what went, and the date and how it was sent.

The letter for this

“Send what was asked for” lists each item from your record. When you send it, it goes back into the record with its date, so the list of what went is kept for you.
